Elise's Bedroom Wish

Created by laschoenrank 8 years ago
This is the write-up that I sent to Help Fill A Dream, in response to the beautiful bedroom makeover they did for Elise early this summer.

Our daughter Elise has been fighting a childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma since she was 11. Now 17, losing the fight, and asked what she would like, she answers "a bedroom makeover, with purple walls". To prepare, extended family members came (several times) to help clean and sort the accumulated clutter of a young woman's childhood, and move all the furniture out. Then Help Fill A Dream got to work. First, get rid of the "teddy bear's picnic" wallpaper border! Then add paint, wallpaper, laminate floors, wall and closet organizers, new bed and bedding, area rugs, lamps, and more beautiful things than one could have ever hoped for.

What does this mean to us? Well, there is floor area to play with her puppy and room for visitors. When she needs a wheelchair, it will have space to maneuver. The double bed means that if she needs a back rub to fall asleep, there is room for me to do that. The room is clean and welcoming and lovely. Elise feels very special and her new room is perfect for the awesome young woman she is becoming.

I want to say Thank You to the people at Help Fill A Dream, and all the suppliers who gave so generously of their products and their labour, to help one beautiful girl have the best quality of life she can at the most difficult part of her life.
